As a vessel owner with Cargo Space you can choose to set aside some of this space to haul cargo.
You can choose to purchase protection against storms, and various other things but it will eat into your profit margin. Once a Trade Route is established at Midnight Eastern Time the route will be completed and you will earn any doubloons that are coming to you. Without purchasing protection you may lose cargo to the elements, bandit raids and this will cut into your profit.
